Mail every home in your neighbourhood
Estimate how many homes are around you, then compare an every-home drop (from $0.45 a home) with addressed postcards that only go where you want them (from $1.63).
Every-home mailing estimate
Rough guide: about 1,000 homes per km² for typical subdivisions with detached homes and townhouses.
Homes (estimate)
3,142
Tier 1000-4999
Every-home drop
$1,571
$0.50 per home, unaddressed
Addressed postcards
$6,095
$1.94 each, named homes only
An every-home drop is cheapest per piece. Addressed cards cost more each but let you skip homes that don’t fit, so many businesses mail far fewer of them, such as only recent movers.
Estimates only. Your final count comes from the delivery routes in the area you pick. Ask for a firm quote.

How Neighbourhood Mail works
Canada Post Neighbourhood Mail delivers unaddressed pieces to every point of call on the letter-carrier routes you pick. You can usually narrow it by type (houses, apartments, farms or businesses), but not by who lives there. Canada Post sells it directly, through its online tools for small businesses and through printing partners.
The trade-offs are simple:
- Cheapest per piece because there is no addressing and the postage is lower.
- No targeting beyond the route: renters, owners, existing customers and competitors all get it.
- Preparation rules: pieces have to be bundled and delivered to the right depots, which takes planning.
- Hard to measure unless you add a code or QR to every piece.
Compare
Neighbourhood Mail vs addressed postcards
| Every-home drop | Addressed postcards | |
|---|---|---|
| Who gets it | Every mailbox on the route | Only the homes or businesses you choose |
| Personalised | No | Yes, address on every card |
| Minimum | 500 homes | None |
| From (per piece) | $0.45 | $1.63 |
| Best for | Menus, openings, broad local offers | Movers, homeowners, existing customers, B2B |
A common pattern: open with an every-home drop to announce yourself, then keep going with addressed cards to the households that matter most, like new homeowners or the neighbours of recently sold homes.
Plan it
Getting an every-home drop right
- Draw your radius around the business, not the whole city: most local customers live within a few kilometres.
- Pick one offer with a deadline, and a code or QR so you can count responses.
- Time it around paydays and seasons, and leave slack for delivery.
- Repeat. A second and third drop to the same homes usually beats one big drop to new ones.

FAQ
Questions people ask
What is Canada Post Neighbourhood Mail?
Neighbourhood Mail is Canada Post’s unaddressed admail service: flyers, postcards and menus delivered to every mailbox on the routes you choose, with no names or addresses. It is the Canadian equivalent of USPS Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM).
Is there an EDDM in Canada?
Not under that name. The closest equivalent is Canada Post Neighbourhood Mail, which you can book through Canada Post or through a print-and-mail partner like us.
What does an every-home drop cost with Post Timely?
Our unaddressed every-home drops start at $0.45 per home at volume, printing included, with a 500-home minimum. Use the estimator for a ballpark and ask for a firm quote once you have picked the area.
When is addressed mail the better choice?
When you only want some of the homes: homeowners rather than renters, houses rather than apartments, recent movers, or your own customers. Addressed postcards start at $1.63 each, but you mail far fewer of them.
How accurate is the household estimate?
It’s a rough guide based on typical housing density, so treat it as a starting point. The final count for an unaddressed drop comes from the actual delivery routes in the area you choose.
What happens during a Canada Post strike?
All mail, addressed and unaddressed, stops moving. The November–December 2024 strike paused deliveries for about a month. Build slack into date-sensitive campaigns and avoid booking time-critical offers into a disruption window.
